Japan Essay

Japan was the most amazing and rewarding experience of my life. It was also my dream come true. It was a million times better than I ever thought and something that I could never imagine. The people were so friendly and caring and the scenery was beautiful.

The first day that we arrived in Japan one of the many things that we did was to go to the city hall. It was the most amazing and shocking thing that I have ever experienced. There standing before us was a group of people and they were all applauding. It was shocking, breathtaking and priceless. It seems like something almost indescribable! We also got a tour of the city hall and got to visit with Mayor Sato. He was so nice and I had so much fun.

Later on the first day we had a dinner with the Mayor and his wife. Near the beginning after introductions we showed the video that we prepared as one of our gifts to the mayor and the city. We were all very excited after working very hard. Nick and Kevin were especially excited after working so hard with editing. They did an awesome job and the Mayor seemed to enjoy seeing how teenagers in Barrie spend their time. Dinner that night was amazing. The food was so nice and each one of us got to sit down with the mayor and talk to him.

One of the main highlights of my trip was the home stay. I stayed with the Oishi family and had the best time of my life. We had so much fun! I got to go up into the mountains, have a tea ceremony with the family my sister had stayed with four years ago, go to the zoo and see the camels, go shopping in Sendai City and Yamagata City and much more. My family went out of their way and treated me as if I was one of their own. I found it very hard to leave them because we had become so close. One of the things that I was very excited about during my home stay was going to a real sushi bar. This is where there is a variety of sushi and it revolves around the room. You can take whichever sushi you would like off the revolving line. It was so good and the best sushi I have ever had.
